Building The InMoov Robot

Project Description

In the Summer of 2018, I interned in the Department of Robotics at the Czech Technical University of Prague. I was tasked to build a humanoid robot called InMoov. InMoov is an open-source humanoid robot made by Gael Langevin, a French sculptor and designer. After 3D printing the required 200+ parts, I assembled them together, putting in motors and encoders in order to actuate the joints. To push myself and expand my knowledge, I also decided to implement controls and visualisation in ROS.

During my internship, I had the opportunity to enter this project into a competition held for the final projects of Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering students, and am proud to say that I came in 3rd out of 10.

This project was a great success and I'm very happy that everything worked as it should! It gave me the confidence to start planning more ambitious robots, such as the Monopod robot, which I'm building right now.
